About the Sandpoint Financial Advisor

The Sandpoint financial advisor is a website landing page concept design. With some prominent local advisors in mind, the company wanted to this page for content writing where the advisors can be featured on the page and as a mock for a webpage the advisor can buy.

In this design, I came up with a fictional advisor named Alan Lake who conducts investment planning, wealth management advising, portfolio management, and all things on savings, retirement, insurance, and entrepreneurship.

Building a successful Financial Page

The best way to start my UX research in making the best financial webpage was to research from the advisors themselves. Financial advisors put forth a lot of information on what they like to see on a website as a financial website needs to demonstrate an advisor's or company's professionalism straightforwardly.

With this research, I came up with a UX strategy for layout design and content that displays the content in the best order and in the easiest way to navigate. The mocks shown here demonstrate the following UX formula.

  1. This is who we are

  2. these are the services we provide

  3. This is how we protect your investments

  4. This is how we will do it.

The simple formula kept my design on my single goal of allowing users to learn all the financial advice they can receive and how they can receive it in a simple and easy-to-follow manner.

Personal UX Notes on Financial Website

What makes a good financial advisor website

Credentials: Clients like advisors who demonstrate trustworthiness. Rewards, credentials, and stats help generate the ethos an advisor needs to be appealing to a potential client. Placing the credentials at the top of the landing page is super important for generating that trust on the first time a user opens the website.

Putting a name to a face: Having a bio or an about section with the image of the company CEO or advisor also helps generate trust. Users who are looking for financial advice like knowing a person is helping you with your money. It helps create a sense of assurance that someone is going to help you every step of the way toward financial success.

Less is more: According to top financial advisors, they say the best websites are the ones that keep things simple and not overwhelm clients. Clients who are looking for money advice are looking for a direct and easy-to-follow approach to financial planning, and a good website will reflect that starting from point A to point B, saying this is who we are, this what we are doing, this is where we take your money, and this is how we will do it.

Pricing and fees: While it sounds counterintuitive, Noyers, a financial advisor, recommends showing pricing and fees on a financial advisor website so that clients see transparency in a company. It also helps distinguish an advisor well from his competition.

Aesthetics and Style: Some of the top financial advisor websites employ micro-interactions and abstract, conceptual imagery. It is very stylish of course, but it also demonstrates professionalism. These should also remain simple since a financial advisor webpage should be straightforward in its services and also be user-friendly to people of all ages (like an older couple who are more interested in a trustworthy financial advisor for their retirement).
